Welcome to my process page!
Enjoy this video of glassmaking highlights from my production lines.
Working with molten hot glass is more than half of the fun! Transforming a 2100 degree lava like mercurial and oh so sensitive substance into vessels and sculptures that can be used and enjoyed is a never ending fascination for me. Glassblowing is a 2,500 year old process and the tools of the trade have remained largely the same. It is ALL about timing, temperature and using gravity to your advantage when working. I try to blow glass a couple times a week to keep my muscle memory in top form and to stay acclimated to the ever present Texas heat. Prototyping new designs and the vast array of colors and patterns that they can exist in is one of my favorite elements of being a glassmaker.
My work is inspired by my love of the textures and patterns found in the natural world and how I experience them. I enjoy the attention to detail found in art nouveau and the crafts people of that era. Makers gotta make and I love creating vessels and sculptures by working with hot glass. It is both a challenging and addictive material to manipulate that takes a lifetime to master.
I aspire to find good homes for my pieces and hope they evoke feelings of wonder, curiosity and contentment.
